Sharon Nancy Pentz was born on December 27, 1948, to Earl and Viola (Burgett) Wert in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She grew up in rural Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where she attended Carlisle Springs School and graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1966. She then worked at the United Telephone Co. in Carlisle and then with the C.H. Masland Carpet Co. Sharon was united in marriage to Marlin Pentz on September 25, 1971, in York Springs, Pennsylvania. Following their marriage, they continued living in rural York Springs for 12-1/2 years before moving to the rural Renville, Minnesota, area in 1984. Sharon then helped her husband farm in Crooks Township and raised her four children: Mischele, Sheldon, Melissa and Nealin. In August of this year, Sharon was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She was a former Sunday school teach in Pennsylvania and Minnesota, and was a faithful wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing, growing flowers, and feeding the birds and squirrels. Her death occurred Saturday evening, December 21, 1996, at her home in rural Renville, at the age of 47.

Sharon is survived by her husband Marlin; two sons: Sheldon and Nealin; two daughters: Mischele and Melissa, all at home in rural Renville; half sister, Dorothy Sheriff of Mount Holly, Pennsylvania; and nephew Ronald Sheriif of Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her parents, half brother Lee Wert and half sister Marie Wert.

A visitation will be held at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville on Thursday, December 26, 1996, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The visitation will continue from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 1996, at the Chestnut Grove Lutheran Church in York Springs, Pennsylvania, with the funeral beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery in York Springs, Pennsylvania.

Pallbearers for the funeral in York Springs, Pennsylvania, will be: George Wert, Lester Griest, Jeff Painter, Dave Murtoff, Ronald Sheriff and Emory Shughart.
