The family story goes that Catharine died in 1881 of injuries from falling down a stairway while running to see a fire wagon. She never regained consciousness after the fall and died within a short time. She is buried beside her son, Kenneth Bain in the old Pioneer Cemetery, but no stone marks her grave.
In the 1880 census of Terrell, Catharine (Katharine Baine) is listed living with her grandchildren, who were the children of Kenneth & his wife Mary Ann Braley Bain.
