U.S. Congressman. He attended Seth Low College of Columbia University, (1932-34), was a newspaper reporter in New York and engaged in the insurance business. He was a staff assistant to New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia, in 1937, assistant to president of New York City Council, (1938-40) and a member of the New York State Senate, (1941-54). He also was a member of the Temporary State Commission to Revise the Civil Service Laws, (1952-54), a member of the Mayor’s Committee on Courts, (1956-58) and chairman of the Insurist Corporation of America, (1948-59). In 1959, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-sixth Congress and to the next six succeeding Congresses, serving until 1973. Not a candidate for reelection, he worked in Southampton, New York, public relations.
