Benjamin Flint was the eldest son and namesake of Lieut. Benjamin Flint and his wife Margaret Sawyer of Reading, Middlesex Co., MA. His father, a veteran of the French and Indian War, farmed land in what late became the town of North Reading. Benjamin received baptism on November 28, 1762. During the War of Independence Benjamin served in several local companies of troops, including the 3rd Reading Company under the command of his kinsman, Capt. John Flint.

Benjamin married twice. His first wife was Mary Swain of Reading whom he married on April 20, 1784. The couple had ten children: Benjamin (b. 1784), Amos (b. 1786), Betsy (b. 1788), Edward (b. 1789), Joseph (b. 1791), Isaac (b. 1792), Sally (b. 1794), Daniel (b. 1795), Anna (b. 1797), Hepzibeth (or Hepzi, b. 1801). The first eight children were born in Westminster, Worcester Co., MA where Benjamin and Mary had a farm. Sometime after 1795 the family moved to a farm in Cheshire Co., NH.

After Mary Flint's death on October 25, 1807, Benjamin married Eunice Stowell (b.1774), daughter of Joseph and Martha Page Stowell of Winchester, Cheshire Co., NH. Eunice bore Benjamin four additional children: Eunice (b. 1809), Ezekial (b. 1811), James (b. 1814), and Simeon (b. 1817). Benjamin Flint died at his farm at the age of 72 years.
