Aaron Sawyer
4th Corporal, Capt. Solomon Stuart's co., Col. Josiah Whitney's regt.; from 21 Aug to 25 Aug 1777; company marched on alarm at Bennington [Vermont]; roll sworn to at Lancaster.

Aaron Sawyer was prominent in Boylston's Town offices, serving as the 'First
Town Clerk", a member of the Board of Selectmen for six years, as an
Assessor for 13 years, as a member of the School Committee and served as
Town Moderator at 34 Town Meetings. He held the office o Assistant Revenue
Assessor for the Seventh Massachusetts District and as a land surveyor he
surveyed the Town and made the first map of Boylston in 1795. [Boylston

When he died, the Sawyer Mill's property consisted of a saw mill, a grist
mill, a clothier mill, and a fulling mill for the manufacture of homespun
cloth, an oil mill, a blacksmith shop, a country store, the dwelling house,
farm, and farm buildings. The various branches of industry that had been
carried out by him were managed by several members of his family after his
