David Brooks

Hot Springs----- David O'Dell Brooks, 82, of Rt 2, died Wednesday evening at his home after a brief illness.
He was a native of Madison County and a retired farmer.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs Gerta Roberts Brooks; seven daughters, Mrs Selma Watson of Louisville, Ky, Mrs Olive Hall of Elizabeth, Ind, Mrs Juanita Fletcher of Asheville, Mrs Sylvia Finley and Miss Nina Lee Brooks, both of Hot Springs Rt 2 and Mrs Jean Dunlap and Mrs Mary Sams, both of Hendersonville, Rex of the US Army in Vietnam, and Lionel and Tommy Brooks, both of Hot Springs; two sisters, Mrs Alice Lamb of Hot Springs and Mrs Etna Cook of Gray Court, SC, and 19 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 pm Saturday in Zion Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Rev Sam Austin and the Rev Estel Strickland will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Henry Watson, Walter Hall, Richard Dunlap, William Finley, Charles Fletcher and William Sams.
The body will be taken to the residence at 11 am Friday, by Garrett Funeral Home, Waynesvill, where it will remain until placed in the church for the services.
