Jane Gray Thorp Hutchins was born in Jefferson County, New York in 1825. She was the fourth child of Ebenezer & Lucinda (Gray) Thorp. In late 1830, The Thorp family moved west to Tecumseh, MI and Jane's father Ebenezer died shortly after in 1831.
