Husband of Viola M. Andersen∼Dr. Holger Martin Anderson, 79, of Naples, Fla, a former Strawberry Point resident, physician and surgeon, died Dec 16.
Born in Winneberg, Denmark he immigrated to the United States as a boy. He attended Morningside College and graduated from the University of Iowa School of Medicine. He began his medical practice in Strawberry Point in 1936.
He served 3 1/2 years in the United States Medical Corps during World War II, then returned to Strawberry Point. He practiced there until retiring in 1960.
The body will be cremated. Private memorial services will be held in Naples and at a later date at the United Methodist Church in Strawberry Point.
Burial will be at Cass Township Cemetery, Memorials may be given to the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home.
Survivors include his wife Viola (Watts); a son Jon, of Norich, N.Y.; a daughter, Jane Sandison of Minneapolis, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
