DEARING, Verna Sweeney, of Chesapeake, died Friday, November 15, 2002. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Stone Dearing. She is survived by two sons, Edward L. Sweeney and his wife Joyce, of Salem and Wayne M. Sweeney and his wife, Kathryn of Chesapeake; four sisters, Ruth Thomas, Rena Ball, Edna Atkinson and Rachel Marsico and her husband, John, all of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Tammy Blankenship and her husband, Avery, and Michael E. Sweeney, all of Salem, Debra Ray and her husband, Nazim of Germany, and Wayne M. Sweeney, Jr. and his wife, April of Chesapeake; six great-grandchildren; a second family, Mike, Debbie, Karen, Jeff and Pam and their families. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
