Amos Finnestad, the son of Lars and Dorothy (Jacobson) Finnestad, was born April 12, 1906 in Fenton, Iowa and departed this life at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa on Sunday, January 5, 1992.
He received his education in the rural Fenton, Iowa Schools.
On July 18, 1925 he was united in marriage to Cecilia Stamer in Fenton. He has lived all his life in the Fenton area. The couple farmed east of Fenton until his health failed. He has been a resident at the Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong since June of 1983.
He was member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Fenton.
Mr. Finnestad is survived by his wife, Cecilia of Lone Rock, Iowa; one son Mark Finnestad and his wife, Phyllis of St. Paul, Minnesota; four daughters, Rose Mary Urbick and her husband, Marcus of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Brenda Potratz and her husband, Roger of Alta, Iowa; Lois Wasson and her husband, Jeffery of Cohutta, Georgia; Marlys Finnestad of Algona, Iowa; two daughters-in-law, Wanda Finnestad of Bancroft, Iowa and Diane Finnestad of Mesa, Arizona; Twelve Grand-children; Sixteen Great Grand-children; one brother, Norman Finnestad and his wife, Esther of Fenton; and one sister, Mrs. Blanche Sjostrom of Minneapolis. He has been preceded in death by two sons, William and David, five grand-children; his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
