Myrna Elaine Dittberner passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital after a six month battle with cancer on January 16, 1996. She was born in Brockville, Ontario on August 26, 1937. Myrna is survived by her husband Gordon, daughter Rae of Edmonton, and daughter Leah Craig, son-in-law Steve and grand-daughter Lindsay of Innisfail. She is also survived by her three sisters Peg McEachern and Ernie of Red Deer, Ruth Stafford and Denis of Red Deer and Lorna Holmes and Bill of Camrose, as well as her two brothers Merritt Chisholm and Bennie of Sidney, BC and Burns Chisholm and Fay of Sidney, BC. She was predeceased by her mother Gertrude Chisholm in 1946, her father Forbes in 1976, and her brother-in-law Peter Hartrick in 1989.
After graduating from high school in Red Deer she began her career in the communications industry. During the next 25 years she worked for TV and radio stations in Hamilton, Winnipeg, Red Deer, Edmonton, Kamloops, Vancouver and Victoria. Myrna moved to Ponoka with her husband in 1982 where she made many friends while instructing classes at the Ponoka Pottery Club. Myrna enjoyed reading and playing bridge with her many friends in the Asker District.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 19, 1996 at the Ponoka United Church, Reverend Stuart Jackson officiated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alberta Cancer Foundation, 6th Floor, 9707 - 110 Street Edmonton, AB T5K 2L9. Bowker Funeral Home of Ponoka in care of the arrangements 783-3122.
