Dearest husband of Eva(EVE nee Taylor)of Indiana, they were married on February 01,1878 in Wheeler Gratiot County Mi. film #2342464
Eva sadly dies in 1928 :(

He answered to the call to arms and enlisted in the 13th Independent Battery Michigan Light Artillery in late 1861.

Private George Wood MET PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN SEVERAL TIMES WHILE HE WAS SERVING IN WASHINGTON D.C.(see unit history below).

PRIVATE GEORGE WOOD WAS ALSO SENT WITH HIS BATTERY AND THE 16TH NEW YORK CALVARY TO HUNT JOHN WILKES BOOTH AND DANIEL HAROLD, SENT FROM VIENNA INTO LOUDON COUNTY, THEN TO GARRETTS FARM NEAR PORT ROYAL ON APRIL 26. 1865.**

The 13th Independent Battery was on duty at Camp Berry,and charged with defences of Washington D.C.until May 14,1864.Fort Stevens,Northern Defenses of Washington D.C.,Fort Foote,and Fort Sumnner,and Fort Rens.(??)Partial history thus far.

Entire Battery was MOUNTED(requested) on February 27, 1865 by President Abraham Lincoln to be engaged in operations against guerrillas and Patrol duty in Maryland untill END OF June 1865.
