Arthur Mulholland, 80, former register of deeds of Osceola county, passed away Saturday, October 23, after an illness of the past two years.
Mr. Mulholland had resided in this vicinity 77 years, the family coming here from his birthplace, Perth, Ontario, Canada, in 1866, settling on a farm on the Lake-Osceola county line.
Mr. Mulholland had operated a drug store in Reed City and a store in Ashton before retiring from the retail business.
He was a member of the local Methodist Church, serving a number of years on the board of trustees.
He was born on January 31, 1863, the son of Arthur and Nora Mulholland.
On December 25, 1883, he was united in marriage to Miss Laura White of Ashton, in a ceremony performed in Reed City.
Surviving are the wife; one son, Victor of Sand Lake; one grandchild; one brother, John, of Reed City; and two sisters, Mrs. Dennis Horgan of Big Rapids and Miss Sarah Mulholland of Reed City. One daughter, LaVerne Bart, died about a year ago in Lansing.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Ryan Funeral Home with the Rev. William Simpson officiating. Interment took place in Woodland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Sam T. Johnson, Henry Newcomb, A.E. Brooks, W. M. Williams, Ben Roberts and Miles Campbell.
