Mr. Music passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at his residence in Jewett. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on May 5, 1956, to Jerry & Annie Jean Music. Mr. Music grew up between Tennessee, Chicago, Flordia, and Indiana before residing for many years in Channelview. He was a truck driver by trade. Billy accepted Christ as his savior in 1979, became very active in the bus and children's ministry, and surrendered to ministry in 1980 at Bayshore Baptist Church in Channelview. He was ordained and licensed as Pastor in 1982 and served his first Pastorate in Vernon that same year. He later served as Pastor at churches in Broaddus and San Augustine, and preached whenever and wherever he was given the opportunity. He married Tammy on April 2, 1993, and shared over eighteen years together. He and his family moved to Jewett in 1999 and joined First Baptist Church in Jewett until he was called to Pastor at Redland Baptist Church. He later joined Corinth Baptist Church in Dew where he was presently a member. In 2004, Mr. Music took a job in Iraq, working under the U.S. Department of Defense. This gave him the opportunity to serve his country, be a missionary, and still be able to support his family. Since 2004, he has worked in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan and returned home on September 6, 2011, due to his illness. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and buying and selling classic cars. Mr. Music had a very generous spirit and enjoyed being able to help others. He loved to fellowship with family and friends and enjoyed just spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Music of Jewett; four daughters, Tina Music of Fulton, IN, Shannon Music of Houston, Lisa Shaw & husband Matthew of Hoosick Falls, NY, and Natalie Music of Jewett; one son, Jacob Music of Jewett; five grandchildren, Kirston McCormick, Jackson Music, Tyler Shaw, Tearcy Shaw, and Tanner Shaw; his mother, Annie Jean Music of Cornersville, TN; one sister, Evelyn Neely of Florida; two brothers, James Michael Music & wife Vickie of Highlands, and Gregory Mark Music & wife Shammari of Cornersville, TN; numerous other relatives and friends.
Mr. Music was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Music and Roger Music.
