James Earl "Pudzo" Abshier, 58, of Hankamer was born March 6, 1953 in Anahuac and passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 in a Houston hospital. He was a graduate of Anahuac High School and was a member of the Anahuac Chamber of Commerce and the Southeast Texas Cattlemen's Association. He was a true cowboy and was proud to be the self designated president of the Hankamer He Man Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ruby Abshier. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Kaci Abshier-Johnson and Dennis Johnson and Kristin Abshier, all of Mont Belvieu and Shelly and Darrin Hatcher of Hankamer; brother and sister-in-law, Whalen and Ronda Abshier of Anahuac; and grandchildren, John, Collin, and Lane Johnson, Michaela and Cole Moorman, and Bailey and Demi Hatcher.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at his farm and ranch at 10341 Highway 61, Hankamer, TX 77560 with Pastor Len Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow at the Abshier Family Cemetery in Liberty County.

Serving as pallbearers will be Heath Abshier, John Faubion, Darrin Hatcher, Cully Smith, Kade Witherspoon, and Kyle Witherspoon.
