Born in Illinois to Daniel P. Showen and Maude/Mary Ellis. In 1880 while living in Kansas she was "taken in" by Lola Earl and trained to be in the circus and became part of the Earl Sisters act. She remained in the circus on and off till at least 1918.

In 1895 in New Orleans she married her first husband, Raymond Dominique Pochelu, a theatre owner. Only to leave him 5 weeks later in Chicago.

In 1907 in Olympia, Washington she married for a 2nd time to Holton Martin, a race horse trainer/owner. It is unknown when she left him but they are no longer together by 1918. On the 1920 census she lists herself as a widow. She wasn't as Holton died in 1937.

In January 1930 she married a 3rd time to Emile T. Combe.
