Carl was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was united in marriage to Bertha Venske at Immanuel Lutheran at Bartlett. This union was blessed with 4 children, Sarena, Melvin, Elaine and Donovan who died in infancy.
Carl was active in community affairs. He farmed in this community until 1926 when he moved into Bertha. He was employed by the Bertha Hardware and Furniture for many years before his retirement. He served on the stewardship committee a number of years of St. Pauls Lutheran church of which he was a member. His wife preceded him in death in 1927.
