MARTIN GEIGER, AGED 91, DIES
Old Timer, Who Came to America 68 Years Ago, Dies Here
Martin Geiger, 91 years old, a resident of Leavenworth since 1879, died last evening at 7 o'clock at his home, 611 Kiowa street. The funeral arrangements have not as yet been made and will be announced later. He is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Louis Neubauer, Mrs. Peter Guenther and Mrs. P.A. Krumm and two nephews, A.M. Geiger, and Henry Geiger, the latter of Salt Lake City. Mr. Geiger was born in Bermangen, Germany, September 6, 1824. He left Germany in 1847 and came to New York where he was employed for three years as a cabinet maker. He then went to Iowa where he made his home for thirty years. In 1879 Mr. Geiger came to Leavenworth and lived here until his death. Mr. Geiger had been retired from active business for six years. He was taken ill several months ago and his desire was to live until he had passed his 91st birthday. This was celebrated September 6.
