Selby Kelley, 75, former utility employe in Clarinda, died at 6 pm Wednesday in the veterans hospital at Des Moines and is being brought here for funeral services Friday.

Mr Kelley had retired from work with the electric company at Iowa Falls and moved with his wife to Des Moines ten years ago. He had a stroke a week before his death. He was a native of near Shambaugh. His wife survives him. His nearest relative here is a cousin, Mrs Raymond Perry.

The funeral is to be at 2 pm Friday with Rev D.C. Davis as clergyman at the Walker Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clarinda Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Roscoe Mulkins, Darrell Davison, Ronald Perry, George Alexander, Stanley Stimson and Lloyd Davis. Music will be by Mrs Grace Perry and Mrs Joan Archer. CARINDA HERALD-JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, May 9, 1968

Lawrence Selby Kelley, son of Samuel and Mary Frances Hay Kelley was born in Page County near Shambaugh, Ia, Feb 16, 1893 and departed this life May 8, 1968 at the Lutheran hospital, Des Moines, Ia at the age of 75 years 2 months and 22 days.

He received his education in the rural schools in Page County.

He served in 1st World War.

He worked for Iowa-Nebraska Light and Power Co for many years building rural electric lines in Iowa and Nebraska. Later he went to Iowa Falls and worked for Iowa Electric Light and Power Co and retired from there in 1958. Then moved to Des Moines, Ia. He was married to Mrs Dollie Ramsey Feb 8, 1958 and spent the rest of his life in Des Moines.

He is survived by his wife Dollie, 3 stepsons, Ralph Higgins, Richard Ramsey, Theodore Ramsey and 5 grandchildren of Des Moines, 2 nieces, Evelyn Perry of Clarinda, Ia and Frances Long of Hanford, Calif. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. He was very thoughful and kind and always lending a helping hand to his neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, 3 sisters, Ina, Lois and Zora, and one brother, Russell.

Funeral service was held at Walker Funeral Home on May 10 in Clarinda, Ia, and conducted by Rev D.C. Davis. "In the Garden" and "Old Rugged Cross" were sung by Mrs Stan Archer accompanied by Mrs Ronald Perry.
