Funeral services for Henry Ellsworth Sorenson, age 81, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at the New Life Christian Church. The Rev. Vern Harris will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Henry died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at his home.

Henry Ellsworth Sorenson was born on Jan. 18, 1930, to Julius and Clara (Narveson) Sorenson in rural Hayward. He attended the Hayward School. Henry was employed at Wilson & Co. for many years and later retired from Farmstead Foods. He was united in marriage to Lucille Ashley on June 18, 1950. They lived in Glenville where they raised their three children, Julie, Debbie and Bob. He also drove school bus, was city constable of Glenville and a long-time member of the Glenville Volunteer Fire Department. Lucille preceded him in death in November of 1998. Henry married Dorothy Willman on July 16, 1999, and the couple made their home in Albert Lea. Henry attended New Life Christian Church, the Eagles Club and Moose Lodge. He always enjoyed going to coffee with friends and treasured time spent with his family. Henry loved life and will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; children Julie (Mike) Dorman, Debbie (Dean) Beighley and Bob (Karen) Sorenson, all of Albert Lea; step-children Brad (Jennifer) Lammers, Scott Lammers and Cheryl (Wayne) Breightenfelt; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Warren (Solveig) Sorenson and Gordon (Marlene) Sorenson; sister Clarice Pence; sister-in-law, Francis Williams; and brother-in-law Richard (Jean) Willman.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Lucille; brothers, Norris and Stanley; sisters Jeanette and Lila.
