Richard Lee Hornaday, 70, a lifelong Rushville resident, passed away at 5:10 AM Thursday, October 13 in Indianapolis.

Born September 11, 1941 in Rushville, he was the son of Verel & Hildred Wall Hornaday, both deceased. Richard married Linda Roberts on April 1, 1961 and she survives.

He worked at Schnadig several years and also spent most of his life running heavy equipment working construction. He served as the Rushville Street Commissioner during Joe Dellon's term as mayor. Richard was a member of the Rushville American Legion Post #150 and the Rushville Eagle's Lodge.

In addition to his wife Linda, of Rushville, he is also survived by sons, Adam (& wife Rhonda) of Rushville & Aaron (& companion Theresa) of Ft. Wayne, daughters, Lori (& husband Brian) Henry of Vilseck, Germany and Beverly Hornaday of Rushville, brothers, Vernon & Terry (& wife Brenda), both of Rushville, sisters, Alice (& husband Frank) Hensley and Patricia Glenn, both of Rushville, grandchilren, Brandon Ralston, Jordan, Lacey & Stacey Hornaday, Brady & Jena Wright and great grandchildren, Meliah & Conner Wright & Branson Jones.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by brothers, Roy, James and William and sisters, Dolores Kennedy and Linda Hensley.

Warren Engel will preside.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #150 or the Rushville Eagles Lodge.

All my favorite memories of Uncle Richard , is from when we all camped in Arlington and the whole one end of the campground was the hornadays . Most of my cherished memories happened there. Lots of good times ... Rest In Peace Now Uncle Rich for you so deserve it....love always, Melody(Sis)
