Lucartha Adams, age 94, of Connellsville, Fayette County, Pa., died Friday, February 3, 2006, in Jo-Ella's Personal Care Home, Dunbar Township, Fayette County, Pa. She was born November 22, 1911, in California, Washington County, Pa., the daughter of Bertha Kropp Matthews Nicholson.
Mrs. Adams graduated from the California (Pa.) schools, and the California Normal School (now California University of Pennsylvania). She was a school teacher for 37 years who taught in the Melcroft and Indian Head schools and at the Rumbaugh Elementary School in Mount Pleasant. She was also a longtime member of the Pleasant Valley Community Church.
She was predeceased by her mother, her husband, William H. Adams, and four brothers, Robert, Roy, William and Victor Nicholson.
She is survived by one son, Gary Nicholson, of Bullskin Township, Connellsville, Pa.; two grandchildren: Marcy Griffith and her husband, James, and Gary Nicholson and his wife, Nicole; and one brother, Ralph Nicholson, of Akron, Oho.
Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 EAST GREEN STREET, CONNELLSVILLE, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. Additional viewing will take place on Monday, February 6, in the PLEASANT VALLEY COMMUNITY CHURCH on Route 982 from noon until 1 p.m. Services will begin at 1 p.m. in the Church with Pastor Frank Dean, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Nebo Cemetery.
