William Davies died in the Nanaimo Mine Disaster on May 3, 1887. One of 150 men who died that day. He left a widow, a three year old son and a one year old daughter. He was 36 years old.

His widow, Clara, later married Hyacinth DuBruille and relocated to Seattle, Washington.
