Cleda Pearl Allen, 92, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 at her residence in Indianapolis. Born on Sept. 26, 1919 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to the late Hiram C. and Mary Russell.
Cleda was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Allen; four children, Bob M. Allen, Benjamin F. Allen, Norma S. Spurlock and Phyllis A. Collett; one grandson, Randy K. Spurlock and nine brothers and sisters, Ivan, Clarence, Lloyd, Raymond, Arnold, Clifford, Cleveland, Leila Ruth and Lena Viola.
Cleda is survived by her grandchildren, Hermon M. (Becky) Spurlock, Sherry D. Allen, Bobby M. (Libby) Allen, Billy M. Allen, Rhonda S. (Phillip) Saylor, Tracy J. Spurlock; great grandchildren, Jonathan (Karen) Spurlock, Amber Spurlock, Brandon Spurlock, Zachary (Ashley) Allen, Stephanie Allen, Andrew Spurlock; great great grandchildren, James, Elijah and Laura Spurlock, Breanna, Keely and Hayden Allen; Her survivors also include in-laws, Frances Allen, Hermon Spurlock Sr., Don Collett and many dear nieces and nephews.
Cleda was a member of House of Prayer Tabernacle. She was a wonderful example of a great Christian lady to everyone around her. Cleda played the piano and organ. She loved music and singing. She cherished time with her family. Everyone in her family would say she was a fabulous cook. Cleda was also a business woman. In 1960 she co-founded Allen's Electric Service Co., Indpls IN, where she was co-owner and worked until retiring.
Cleda, mommow to most of her remaining family, will be greatly missed for her bright blue eyes, beautiful smiles and unending love.
Visitation will be from 3-8:00 PM on Thursday, Oct 13 at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at the Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 South State Road 135 with the funeral service conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, Oct. 14 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
