My Aunt Neet-Neet, as I called her when I was young because I couldn't say Juanita, was my Dad's only sibling. The last of that family. She now rests with the rest of her family. She will be missed and she was loved.

G. Juanita Ervine Brown, 88, of Greenwood and formerly of Connersville, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at The Hearth at Stone's Crossing in Greenwood.

A Connersville native, Juanita was born March 1, 1923, to John Carson and Lillian Irene Ennis Ervine. She was a 1942 graduate of Connersville High School. She married Harold L. "Brownie" Brown on July 25, 1959; he preceded her in passing March 23, 1997.

Juanita had been employed for 27 years as a cashier at Kroger in Connersville, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. After retiring, they moved to Leesburg, Fla. Juanita also had lived in Franklin following her husband's death before moving to Greenwood. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Leesburg and liked to play cards and bingo. Juanita enjoyed spending time with her family and attending family gatherings.

Juanita is survived by two children and their spouses, Kathie J. Nichols and Roger of Connersville, Bill Friend and Tricia of Greenwood; two stepchildren and their spouses, Tawney Hale and Alan, John Brown and Joyce, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Donna Rosengarten of Dayton, Ohio, Gale Peters of Salt Lake City, Utah, Bill Gunnell of Connersville, Karen Harris of Ramstein, Germany, Jason Gunnell of Connersville, Ronda Locke and her husband, Bob, and John Friend and Tara, all of Whiteland; three stepgrandchildren, Stephanie Frasher and Joe Brown, both of Cincinnati, and Jody May and Chris of the Orange community; nine great-grandchildren, two great-stepgrandchildren; a great-great-grandson, Jacob Powell; and two nieces, Agnes Wilcher of Greenfield and Barbara Robinson of Richmond.

In addition to her parents and husband, Juanita was preceded in death by her brother, John A. Ervine, who passed away Aug. 17, 1957.

Elder Richard Byrd of the Seventh Day Adventist Church will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, 920 Central Ave., Connersville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Dale Cemetery in Connersville.
