Funeral services for Charles Rum-
mells, 78, will be held at 1:30
p.m. Tuesday at the Ralph J. Wit-
tich Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph
R. Stoube officiating. Interment
will be at Memorial Park cemetery.
Mr. Rummells died at 11:40 a.m.
Saturday at Oakwood Nursing Home
following an extended illness.
His home was at 906 E. llth St.
He was born Jan. 19, 1895, at
West Liberty, the son of John and
Agnes B. Plumley Rummells, and had
been a life resident of this com-
munity.
Ella M. Rickhoff became his bride
Sept. 24, 1930, at the Little
Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. Mr.
Rummells was a member of the Cal-
vary Baptist church and the Ameri-
can Legion. He was a retired postal
employee.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs.
Ella Rummells, at home; two daught-
ers, Mrs. Laurence (Janet) McCor-
mick, Monahans, Texas, and Mrs.
Arthur (Joyce) Hayes. Jr., Des
Moines; three brothers, John, of
Elgin, Ill., Glen, of Davenport,
and Vernon, of Muscatine; five
sisters, Mrs. Grace Jones, Daven-
port, Mrs. Henry Miller and Mrs.
Sue Carter both of Muscatine, Mrs.
LeRoy Thurness, West Liberty, and
Mrs. William McHugh, San Bernadino,
Calif.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, one brother, and two
sisters.
