"THE VALLEY LOG" - ORBISONIA-ROCKHILL, MOUNT UNION, PA - WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2000 Jerry D. Bard, 75, of P.O. Box 45, Shirleysburg, died unexpectedly Thursday, September 7, 2000, at the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Raymond Hil officiating. Interment was in the Germany Valley Cemetery, RR1, Shirleysburg. Born August 25, 1925, in Aughwich Mills, Shirley Township, he was the son of Lawrence M. and Irene C. (Cummiong) Bard. He is survived by his brothers and sisters. Lawrence N. Bard, Carlisle; Mrs. George (Kay) McMonigal, Steelton; Barry M. (Mike) Bard, Shirleysburg; and Mrs. Fred (Jean) Leonard, Rockhill Furnace. Mr. Bard was of the protestant faith. He attended Blain Vocational High School in Perry County and then he apprenticed watch and clockmaking shops in Windber and Hollidaysburg to become an horologist (watchmaker). He was an avid hunter and enjoyed cardplaying and horseracing. He was also a member of the Orbisonia-Rockhillo Sportsmen Association.
