US Congressman. Served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Elected to represent Virginia's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1891 to 1893. Also served as a Member of the Virginia State Legislature in 1869, Member of the Virginia State Senate in 1874, and Delegate to the Virginia State Constitutional Convention in 1901.
