Alice Ann "Annie" Hyser, age 71, of Columbia City, Ind., died at 9:32 a.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Parkview Whitley Hospital Emergency Room. Born on December 7, 1939 in Waynedale, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Alice (Laier) Stephens.

A Whitley County resident for the majority of her life, she graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1957. She went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. On June 11, 1969 she married Kenneth Hyser in Parisburg, W. Va. She was employed by Weatherhead, Columbia City for 22 years, retiring in 2006. She was a member of the American Legion, Pierceton, Ind. She had many hobbies including gardening, antiquing, and collecting St. Clair glassware and toy sewing machines.

She is survived by her children, Christopher (Marsha) Schrader of Pierceton, Ind., Alan (Tem) Schrader of Olympia, Wash., Dorthea (Jeff) Arnold of South Whitley, Ind., Kenneth (Donna) Hyser, Terry D. Hyser, Timothy Hyser, and Rodney (Torri) Hyser all of Columbia City; Teresa G. (Richard) Earhart of Fort Wayne and Donna (Paul) Weinberg of Columbia City; sisters, Patricia Hasson of Louisville, Ky., Dorothy (Larry) Plummer of Warsaw, Ind., Marta (Richard) Hawkins of South Whitley, Ind., and Jeanne Keirn of Pierceton, Ind.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenny Hyser on March 12, 2009; grandson, Bryan Lee Hyser; granddaughter, Katie Jolynn Hyser; brother, Kenneth Lee Stephens; daughter-in-law, Michelle Hyser; three grandchildren; and her companion, Richard Cearbaugh.

At Mrs. Hyser's request there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Booneville Cemetery, 950 West 150 South, Larwill, Ind. Memorials in memory of Mrs. Hyser can be made to the Pierceton American Legion Auxiliary.
