After the death of her first husband Benjamin F Sheppard [younger brother of William Pendleton Sheppard], Sarah Ann married William A Woodfin on Apr. 11, 1842 in Richmond. Already twice a widow at the age of 46, she died during an outbreak of yellow fever in Norfolk, Virginia, which also claimed the life of her son-in-law John Thomas Lindsey. An update on the yellow fever epidemic in Norfolk, as well as a mention of the death on September 4th of 'Mrs Woodfin of Williams Street', appeared in the Petersburg Express, Friday, September 7, 1855, page 3, columns 1 & 2.

Evidence identifying her siblings can be found on pages 994 and 995 of the Louisa County Chancery Case [1898-014], John Timberlake etc. vs. Executor of Henry Timberlake etc. They include Louisa Timberlake Anthony (1810-1882), Rebecca Timberlake Hogan (b. c.1816), Francis Henry Timberlake (1820-1868), and Mary Elizabeth Timberlake Anthony (1824-1892). Also Araminta Timberlake and Jackson Timberlake who died young.

Evidence identifying her three children can also be found on pages 994 and 995 of the Louisa County Chancery Case, John Timberlake etc. vs. Executor of Henry Timberlake etc., which identifies them as Mrs Louisa Schanawald, formerly Mrs Louisa Lindsey, Mrs Sally Ann Phillips wife of Samuel Phillips and formerly Sally Ann Woodfin, and William A. Shepherd [sic].
