John BROCKET
Birth: BEF 1460 in of Brocket Hall, Appleton, in Bolton Percy, Yorkshire, England
Death: bet 5 Sep - 6 Nov 1532
Burial: Chapel of Our Lady, Church of Saint Helen, Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire, England

Probate: 6 NOV 1532

Note:
He was the second son and his father's heir. He was head of the family at Wheathampstead in Hertfordshire after his father's death. He was fairly young when his father inherited in Hertfordshire and the family moved there. He was sheriff of Hertfordshire and Essex in 1507-1508, and in 1531-1532. In the 1522-1523 Abbott of Westminster's complaints of his poaching and diverting watercourses, thus challenging the Abbey's authority over common rights, John was called "of Brocket Hall"the first to be so called in Hertfordshire. He probably built or at least extended it.
