MRS. MAJOR ARCHER DIES
Mrs. Major Archer died at her home in McDonald Monday evening after an illness of several months. Mrs. Archer had been a resident of this community for several years and during that time has made many friends who will sadly miss her.
The following Obituary was read at the services:
OBITUARY
Lulu Bessie Applebee was born in eastern Kansas August 12, 1881 and passed away in McDonald, Kansas August 10, 1936, at the age of 54 years, eleven months and twenty-nine days.
As a little girl she came to Jewel County with her parents. Later she moved to Colorado where she resided until ten years ago when she came to McDonald. The past ten years she has lived in this community.
On July 4, 1898 she was married to Albert Byers at Jewel City, Kan. To this union two children were born, both of whom survive their mother. Mr. Byers died August 31, 1927.
She became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in Wiggins, Colo., in 1920.
July 28, 1930 she and Major Archer were united in marriage.
Mrs. Archer had a cheerful disposition, always looking on the bright side of things. Even during her last illness she was cheerful to the end.
She is survived by her husband, Major Archer; two children, Glenn Byers of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Mildred Craig of Benkelman, Neb.; nine step childen, five grandchildren, four nephews and two nieces. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Prown of Souix City, Ia. and Mrs. Gertrude Moore of Iona, Kansas.
The funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon at the Federated church, conducted by Rev. Charles G. Roe and interment was in the McDonald cemetery.
