On this 16th day of October 1845 personally appeared before me Robert S. Mitchell a justice of the peace in and for the County aforesaid, Ann Clark a resident of Washington County and State of Kentucky aged Seventy three years old last March who being first duly sworn according to the law doth on her ______ make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of congress passed July 7th 1838 entitled an act granting half pay and pensions to certain widows and the joint resolutions of congress of the 16th of August 1842 That she is the widow of John Clark late a pensioner on the roll of the Kentucky agency.- She further declares she was married to said John Clark in the County of Lincoln in the State of Kentucky on the Nineteenth day of May, Seventeen hundred and Ninety one (1791). That her husband the aforesaid John Clark died on the Twenty fifth day of January Eighteen hundred and thirty nine (1839) That she was not married to him prior to his leaving the service, but the marriage took place previous to the first of January Seventeen hundred and ninety four ____ at the term above stated.

Sworn to and subscribed on the day and year above written before me, and testify that I have for many years been associated with the above married Ann Clark and do certify that in consequence of old age and bodily infirmity she is unable to attend Court to make this declaration.

The deposition of Mrs. Nancy Sweeney a resident of Washington County Ky taken to be read as evidence in favor of the application of Mrs. Ann Clark for a pension.


Deponent being first duly sworn according to the law deposeth and saith that she is seventy nine years old that she is the sister of the aforesaid Ann Clark that she recollects perfectly well going in company with her sister Ann and John Clark to the Rev. John Baileys when they were married, and stood by and saw them married, this marriage took place in the County of Lincoln in the State of Kentucky on the nineteenth day of May Seventeen hundred and Ninety one (1791) She further said she knows the said John Clark was a pensioner on the roll of the Kentucky at the time of his death, and he died on the twenty fifth day of January Eighteen hundred and Thirty nine The deponent was a neighbor to him at his death

The deposition of Joseph Sweeney a resident of Washington County Ky taken to be read as evidence in favor of the application of Ann Clarke for a pension


Deponent being first duly sworn according to the law deposeth and saith that he is eighty five years old and he is the brother in law of Ann Clark, that he was at the house of Ann Whitten the mother of Ann Clark when he saw Ann and John Clark start to Parson Baileys to be married and tarried at the house until the wedners returned and on their return they said they were married and the deponent assisted that night in putting them to bed together as man and wife and they lived together and was recognized as man and wife from that day until the death of John Clark this marriage took place in the County of Lincoln in the State of Kentucky on the nineteenth day of May Seventeen hundred and Ninety one (1791). He further saith he well knows John Clark to be a pensioner on the roll of the Kentucky agency he being a pensioner himself. They usually got the same man to _____ their pensions. He knows the said John Clark died in Washington County, Ky on the twenty fifth day of January Eighteen hundred and Thirty nine (1839) and further seeth not.
