He graduated from McKinley High School, American University, and earned an MBA from Wharton School of Finance. He was a CPA and had a career in financial management in the Federal government at the GAO, as Assistant General Manager and Comptroller of the AEC and Director of Finance at the IAEA in Vienna, VA.
He was predeceased by his son, James H Abbadessa. He was survived by two daughters and their spouses; and five grandchildren.
Visitation and a funeral Mass were held at Saint Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Rockville, MD, on October 8, 2011. Interment on December 21, 2011.
