ANDERSON - Fred Anderson, son of Christian and Elizabeth Anderson, died at his home early Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1970, at the age of 71 years. He was born May 7, 1899 at the home of his parents northwest of Humeston and received his education at McMains rural school.
In 1915, he was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran Church at Chariton.
On January 24, 1925, he was married to Edna Bartlett of Garden Grove, and to this union three children were born. All of his married life was spent on a farm northwest of Humeston and he was engaged in farming until his retirement several years ago. In more recent years, he had been a salesman for Vinton Hybrid Corn Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna, who died Jan. 2, 1970; his eldest son, Harry, who died in November, 1966, and three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by a daughter, Betty Bolling and husband, Art, of Silver City, N.M., one son, Donald and wife, Mary, of Chariton; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Anderson, of Coulter, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Victor Anderson and a sister, Mamie Keller, both of Chariton.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. James Robertson at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, 1970, at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. Burial was in the Humeston Cemetery.
