Mr. Avery was born in Bibb County but had made his home in Jones County. He was retired from Central State Hospital and a member of New Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Robin F. Avery of Gray, a son Andy Avery of Alabama, two daughters Amy Millican of Prattville, AL and Ashley Boatright of Macon, a brother David Avery of Warner Robins and a sister Robbie Berggren of King, NC, and a granddaughter, Shelby Madison Boatright.
