ZOTIQUE BETIT
Zotique Betit, better known as "Toots" Betit of 136 Scott St. for many years, died at Putnam Memorial Hospital this morning following a long illness. He was 76.
Born in Bennington Oct 24, 1896, he was the son of Joseph and Melia (LaPoint) Betit. His schooling was received in Bennington. He married the former Katherine Shanahan in Hoosick Falls on April 26, 1920, the Rev. J. M. Fleming officiating. Mrs. Betit died June 24, 1972.
He had been employed as a weaver and loom fixer at various mills in town.
A World War I Veteran, Mr. Betit had served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Bennington Fraternal Order of Eagles aerie 1861.
A member of Sacred Heart Church, he also belonged to the Holy Name Society of that parish.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Patricia) Pinsonneault, Jr. of Bennington; one sister, Mrs. Albert (Lila) Caron, Sr. and one brother, Azarias Betit, both of Bennington; 12 grandchildren; two great granddaughters; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Chapel with burial to be in this cemetery in the spring.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the funeral home offices.
