Emily Ann Bassett, 88, died at 4:35 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2001, at Elder Care Nursing Home in Alton.
Born August 9, 1912, in Alma, she was a daughter of the late Orie & Cordalia (Pearson) Green.
She married James A. Bassett on November 17, 1945 in Bethalto. He died December 14, 1997.
She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Bethalto, taught Bible School and was a member of the Senior Citizen Group at the church. She loved to bake, cook, sew, quilt, crochet and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Tallman of Gillespie, a son and daughter-in-law, James & Pat Bassett Jr of Alton; four grandchildren and their spouses, Susan Ness of Germany, Dawn Benenze of Gillespie, Michael & Gina Bassett of Brighton and Dena & Buddy Futch of Florida; three great-grandchildren, twins Andrew & Nathaniel Ness and Jessica Paige Bassett; two sisters, Pearl Doolen of Phoenix and Margaret Green of St. Petersburg, Florida and two step-grandchildren.
