Frances Barritt, age 93, of Barron died Monday, June 3, 1996 at the Barron memorial Medical Center Extended Care Unit.

She was born March 25, 1903 in The Town of Maple Grove, Barron County, to William and Effie (Quackenbush) Foss. She grew up in the Town of Maple Grove and was graduated from Barron High School. On September 1, 1923 she married Golden Barritt at Chippewa County. They lived at Lake Nebagomon, WI for 2-1/2 years, returning to Barron to live on her parent’s farm.

They built a home in Barron in 1936 and have lived her since. She was a member of the Yellow River Homemaker Club, and she liked to crochet in her spare time. When she was younger she enjoyed working with the elderly.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Rebekah Lodge and was a longtime member of the First of the First United Methodist Church of Barron.

She is survived by her husband, Golden Barritt, of Barron; sons, Pete Barritt of Barron and Don (Virginia) Barritt of Cobb, WI; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Visitation was Wednesday Evening at the Rausch-Rockman Funeral Chapel in Barron and for one hour prior to the services at the First Methodist Church in Barron on Thursday, June 6, 1996. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at the church with Rev. Harry Naden officiating. Burial was in Wayside Cemetery at Barron.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the Rausch-Rockman Funeral Service in Barron.
