Mrs. Brewer Dies; Teacher at Lily

Mrs. Daisy Chesnut Brewer, 51, Lily school teacher, died at 5:30 p.m., at her home on Route 1, East Bernstadt-Victory.
Mrs Brewer was born, the daughter of William and Addie Jackson Chesnut, Nov. 28, 1904 in Laurel county. She was married Dec. 19, 1938, to Hal Brewer, who survives her. Mrs. Brewer was a school teacher for 33 years in Laurel county, and a graduate of Sue Bennett College and Eastern State College. She was a member of the Mt. Gilead Church.

Other survivors are;: two sisters, Mrs Lucy Sims and Mrs. Ruth Carroll, Route 1, East Bernstadt, and a brother, James Chesnut, Okeana, Ohio.

Funeral service were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Mt. Carmel Christian Church, the Rev. Caleb McFadden officiating. Burial followed in the Landrum cemetery at Oakley by the House Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Sterling Baldwin, Harold Storms, Layton Watkins, Oscar Parman, W. A. Peters, Judith Stedman, Fayette Welderman, John Cornett, Roy Johnson and Hulen Girdler.
Honorary pallbearers were the following women teachers at Lily: Mrs. Hershhel Nolan, Mrs. Vella Mae Kirby, Mrs. Lorene Hodges, Mrs Mabel Ward, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Watkins, Mrs. Ethel Pennington, Mrs. Margie Gill, Miss Eula Fields, Miss Cecil Ewell, Miss Angeline Peters.

Curtis McDaniel and Herman Kidd were also honorary bearers.
