FLETCHER—Funeral for former Fletcher resident Gary Beathard,33,Crescent,will be at 2 p.m.Wed.at Fletcher Christian Church with the Rev.David Klumpt,pastor,Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church,Chickasha,officiating.Mr.Beathard died Sat.,June21,2003,in Guthrie.Burial will be at Fletcher Cemetery under direction of Hodge Funeral Home,Fletcher.He was born Oct.20,1969,in Talihina.He&his family moved to Fletcher when he was in the 6th grade.He graduated from Fletcher High School in 1988.He was a standout on the high school basketball team.He won the state championship his senior year,&was selected Most Valuable Player of the tournament.He was the Lawton Constitution All-Area Class A-B Boys Player of the Year in 1988.He played at OCU,and they won National Championships his junior and senior year in 1991and1992.He married Jenny Scott on July 11,1992,in Chickasha.After graduating from OCU,he taught and coached junior high basketball at Chickasha.He was head coach of high school boys’ basketball at Sallisaw,&was named Conference Coach of the Year in 1997-1998.After that he was high school basketball coach at Ketchum,&later high school principal at Grandfield.He became superintendent of schools at Crescent in 2001.He was working on his doctorate through OCU.He was a member of CCOSA,&the State&National Associations of School Administrators.
