Howard H. Jandt, 87, of Hinckley, passed away Friday, May 6, 1994, at the Elmwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Aurora.

Mr. Jandt was born February 27, 1907, in Hinckley, the son of Herman and Anna (Dienst) Jandt. He was united in marriage in Aurora to Monica Schumacher. After her passing, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Edgerton of Chicago in 1950.

He was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Hinckley. He was a member of the DeKalb County Farm Bureau and the Aurora Moose lodge. For many years, Mr. Jandt was employed by Austin-Western Corporation in Aurora. He was then, in later years, a longtime farmer in the Hinckley area.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte, of Hinckley; two sons, William (Sherry) of Janesville, WI, and Edward (Dottye) of Dodge City, KS; four grandchildren, Shawn (Allan) Dyer of Greeley, CO, Melissa (Peter) Fourt of Rhinelander, WI, Kathy (James) Becker of Iowa City, IA, and Kimberly (Mark) Hast of Elizabethtown, NC; eight great grandchildren; and a brother, Stanley (Alice May) Jandt of Hinckley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Monica; a brother, Irvin Jandt; a sister, Hazel Weiherman; a son and daughter at birth; and two nephews, Ronnie and Jerry Jandt.

Funeral services were held Monday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Hinckley, the Reverend Kate Feeney-Bastian officiating, with Harriet Larson at the organ. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Hinckley.

Pallbearers were Harry Larson, Hilton Bowgren, Burton Scott, Harley Mack, Ray Frost, and Art White.
