Robert L. James "Bob, 95, Route 4, Waynesville, died Monday, April 29, 1985 at his residence. Born in Haywood County to late Silas and Mary Ferguson James, he had farmed before his retirement and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving: wife, Lydia McElroy James, 2 sons: Jack and Carroll James, both of Waynesville; 4 daughters: Mary Sanford, Sarah Frances Haynes, Phyllis Ammons and Bobbie Hall, all of Waynesville; 2 sisters: Aletha Sanford of Asheville, and Nora Howell of Waynesville; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Crawford Funeral Home, Waynesville. Revs. Jarvis Teague and Floyd Frisbee officiated with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Waynesville.
Friends were received 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence. Memorials to the church.
Pallbearers: Mike Haynes, Dowe McElroy, James Payne, Eugene Milner, Joe Davis, Johnny Milner, Burnette Crawford, and Wallace Crawford."
