Clement J. Bartch

Bossier City, LA - Clement J. Bartch, 78, passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, September 5, 2011, in Bossier City, LA. Clement was born in Red Rock, TX on March 20, 1933 to Joe and Rosa Bartsch. He loved to garden, cook and he especially enjoyed baking. But the thing he loved the most was spending time with his family. He was intelligent, witty and one of the most selfless men you could have ever known. He served our country in the USAF where he earned many awards and commendations, including the Joint Service Commendation Medal. After 20 years of service, including two tours in Vietnam, he retired and began a new career with the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 2003.

A mass will be held at St. Jude's Catholic Church on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. followed by an interment at Hill Crest Memorial Park. You can visit the family and express your condolences between 5 and 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Hill Crest Funeral Home.

Clement is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Hiett Bartsch, parents, six brothers and one sister. He is survived by daughters, Carolyn Copeland and husband Jim, Ann Stanton and husband Brian and Margaret Bartsch; son, Robert Bartsch and wife Allison; one sister, Clara Bartsch Goertz and husband Ernest; grandchildren, Karla Murray Carson and husband, Jeff, Karen Murray Dalton and longtime boyfriend Chris Davis, Matthew Copeland and longtime girlfriend Teresa Myers, Aaron Bartsch, Kristine, Erik, Ian and Isaac Stanton; great grandchildren, Noland and Lily Carson and Caleb Davis; sister-in-law, Nancy Hiett Harris and husband Johnie; extended grandchildren, who were not his by birth, but by love, Felicia Croft, Scott Smith and Jerry Fleming.

Serving as pall bearers are: Jerry Fleming, Chris Davis, Scott Smith, Scott Kemp, Byron Comb, and Jeff Carson. Honorary pallbearers are Johnie Harris and Norman Smith.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Mike Sewell, Dr. Maxwell "Chip" McDonald, Dr. Arnold Barz, Dr. Michael Durcie, Dr. Thomas M. Smith and the entire staff of Pilgrim Manor Guest Care Center, Willis-Knighton Cancer Treatment Center and Willis-Knighton Bossier.
