He was retired from Magnavox and was member of Oak Ridge Primitive Baptist Church. He was a veteran of U. S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years: Audrey W. Adkins; one daughter: Rebecca Adkins Fletcher and her husband, Brian, of Kentucky; one son: David C. Adkins of Johnson City; two grandsons: Ian and Eli Fletcher; one brother and sister-in-law: Thomas and Claudene Adkins; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Eula and Hurst Waddell, Ann Peterman, Betty and Richard Arnold; one sister-in-law: Macel Adkins.
He was preceded in death by her parents: Cullum and Etta Adkins; one brother: Eugene Adkins; one sister: Christine Edwards.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Charles Babb will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery on Snapps Ferry Road.
