CLAXTON - Jessie Mae Strickland, 101, died August 3, 2005, at Evans Memorial Hospital.

The Bulloch County Native had resided in Savannah most of her life. She moved to the Evans County area 10 years ago. Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Alton Strickland, son, Albert Courtney Strickland, and grandson, Steven Alton Fries.

Survivors: one son, William James Strickland of Richmond, VA., one daughter, Doris S. Fries of Claxton; five grandchildren, Sandra S. Taylor of Richmond, VA., Deborah S. Blackmon of Statesboro, Albert Courtney Strickland, Jr., of Charlotte, NC; Norman W. Fries, Jr., of Register and Pamela F. Usher of Savannah; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friday, August 5, 12:30-1:30 p.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.

Funeral: Friday, August 5, 1:30 p.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial: Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Great-grandsons.

Remembrances: First Baptist Church, Claxton, GA., 30417; or Bull Street Baptist Church, Savannah, GA.
