Janice M. Nellen, age 84, died on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born on Jan. 27, 1925 in Portage and was the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Smith) Mootz. She married Herman Nellen on Jan. 12, 1946 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Sun Prairie. She is survived by her children; Norbert (Deb) Nellen, Janet (Carl) Storch, Herbert Nellen, Lorraine (Bill) Gull, Agnes (Tim Nelson) Nellen, Ruth (Dick) Webber, Anna (Tim Williams) Nellen, and Robert (Deb Kohl) Nellen; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Mootz and Henry Mootz; a sister, Sharlene Oetinger; and brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Catherine Susee. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman in 1981; a sister, Carol Kennedy; and two brothers, Howard Gifford and Richard Mootz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie with Father Brian Dulli presiding. Burial will be held at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Mom was a very generous woman. She loved her family and will be missed. WSJ 4/19/2009
