Sandy Hunt was born on Oct. 7, 1947, in Saltville. She departed this life on Oct. 17, 2010, in her home. She was preceded in death by her mother, Daphine L. Brooks; her stepfather, Ralph E. Brooks; her father, Johno Jones; and her baby sister, Susan Gaile "Chita" Jones. She is survived by her former husband, lifelong friend and caregiver, Sonny Hunt of Saltville. She is the mother of three children and nine grandchildren. Tommy Hunt and wife Renee, their children Auburn Hunt and Audra Cardwell Hunt; daughter, Susan Hunt Maiden and companion Curtis Surber, their children Tyler Surber, Mayson and Mattie Maiden; daughter, Devin Hunt Puckett and companion Hank Griffey, their children Tayler Puckett, Nikia Shelby and Tyler Griffey. Other family members include two aunts, Carolyn "Baby" Barr and family, Elizabeth Hayden and family; uncle, Tommie Harris and family; with special friend and cousin as close as two sisters, Gaile Hunt; half-sister, Brenda Holly; half-brother, Doug Jones; a very special friend, Norma Arnold. Funeral services for Sandy Hunt will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Gilbert and Pastor Allen Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until time of the service. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Mount Rose Cemetery, with pallbearers being Roger Harris, Tristen Barr, Ronnie Olinger, Curtis Surber, Barry Hunt and Wayne Hunt.
