Raymond H. "Smitty" Smith, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care August 28, 2011. He was the husband of Gladys M. (Storm) Smith, who died July 7, 2011.

Born July 31, 1929, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Harry A. and Margaret M. (Staub) Smith.

Raymond was the owner/operator of R.H. Smith and Sons "Smitty's Garage." He was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove.

Surviving are six children, Regina M. McMaster and husband William L. of Irishtown, Raymond H. Smith Jr. and wife Patricia of Gettysburg, Midge Leonhardt and husband Pete of Fort Myers, Fla., Daniel A. Smith and wife Cindy of Hanover, Michael F. Smith and wife Melanie of Spring Grove, and Angela M. Klunk and husband Jarrod of Hanover; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mary Noel of New Oxford.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, William L. McMaster Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2 p.m., September 1, 2011, at Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove, with the Rev. Lawrence J. McNeil officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Edgegrove.
