CONWAY, S.C.— Karen Watkins Nelson, 48, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at Conway Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Todd Marlowe and the Rev. Jack Morris. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Nelson was born on March 20, 1956, in Greensboro to Dallas J. and Clara Hinshaw Watkins. She was a school teacher for Waccamaw Elementary School in Conway, S.C.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband, Steve Nelson; son Judd Nelson and daughter Courtney Nelson, of the home; mother Clara Nelson, of Greensboro, N.C.; mother and father-in-law, Pat and Bernie Nelson of Greensboro, N.C.; sisters, Vicky Clark and husband Calvin of Brown Summit, N.C., and Mimi Watkins of Greensboro, N.C.; brother-in-law Don Nelson of Greensboro, N.C.; nieces, Amy Johnson and husband Chris of Concord, N.C., Heather Clark of Gibsonville, N.C., McKenna Miller of Raleigh, N.C., and Catherine Miller of Greensboro, N.C. She was preceded in death by her father, Dallas Watkins and sister Lynn Watkins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Vicky and Calvin Clark, 6914 High Rock Road, Brown Summit, N.C.

Memorials may be made to Coastal Cancer Center, 8121 Rourk Street, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572, or the education fund for Judd and Courtney Nelson, 2002 East Pine Loop, Conway, SC 29526.
